Hello Guys, I'm not sure if any of you are interested or would need some help checking your Writing Task 1 and 2. I can be of help. I can check your writing task in my free time. This is free of charge, but of course you have to be patient with my response since I'm only doing this as a pastime. If you are interested, you can PM me and I will send my email address. My intention of doing this? I've been there and I know how it's like to review and sit for that dreadful exam while busily performing your day-to-day job. Thus, I want to help by paying it forward.

Good luck to everyone and I hope & pray you will soon get your desired band score!

In writing, there are times when we find ourselves having a mental block and it's quite normal even for writers and journalists. But we need to try to avoid this especially if we are going to sit for an IELTS writing exam.

How can we prevent it?

By having a personal essay pattern that you're so familiar with, you will never forget even if you are put in a pressured environment :)

ohh you need to work out and improve in each category. there is a thread here where you can find all the necessary materials. I would suggest to stick with Cambridge and practice is the key. let me prepare a summary of suggestions to help you in your studies.

Berabad, very generous gesture. Unfortunately, I already took the IELTS and I actually paid IELTS-blog to check 8 essays for me and they charged $25 for it. Their service was just OK, they didn't tell me anything I didn't already know.

Anyway, I ended up getting L8.5, R8.5, W7.5, S8.0 so I achieved my aim of CLB10 in all the bands and the max CRS points possible.

Hi there,

Thank you for your offer . I am sitting for IELTS for the third time on March 5. The funny thing that I took the test 4 years ago, the academic one, and I got 7.5 Speaking, 7.5 Reading, 7 writing and 7 listening . What I did last time, a month ago after 4 years in Canada, 7.5 listening , 6 reading 6 writing and 5.5 speaking.. can you imagine.

If there is something that we can get from this, it is that this exam is really about the exam technique and preparation and not only about your level in language. One important thing is the time management , you can get all your answers correct if you have enough time, but the exam is designed so that you have to be smart and manage your time efficiently , in other words do not listen to everything, only focus on what is required, do not read the whole article , scan and skim to find the required answers. Do not just write , write in the style which is requested, using the expressions and range of vocabulary that can show the examiner your language skills. And finally , do not just speak labalabal, that what I did in the last exam where I got 5.5 , talking without interruption but no addressing the task, let us not forget that task response is as important as fluency and vocabulary.

You said that you are writing a summary for all the tips, that would be really helpful and appreciated. Especially for how to manage the time in the reading part, and how to write a winning letter in Task 1 writing task.

I think every test taker is different. I actually did read the entire passage in the IELTS (general) reading test. In fact I had time to go to the bathroom in the reading section so it all depends.

I think practice makes perfect on this test so get the Cambridge English IELTS series 1-9 and practice (I scored R8.5, L8.5, W7.5, S8.5). Here are my notes for each section, but remember these notes may not work for everyone.

hi guys, thanks for sending me messages. to answer few, I would really suggest to have some time review Cambridge, be familiar with it and knowing it by heart. but in case you don't have enough time to prepare, say 1 or 2 weeks before the exam, I would recommend as follows:

1. Listening
- listen to BBC news all day (e.g plug a headset and stream while walking, driving, etc. this helped me get a 9 in listening)
- answer 1 listening test in Cambridge every night

2. Reading
- I've downloaded Elevate application in my mobile. it's a brain app. practice it every morning
- you can also use the cueprompter site in the internet to practice fast reading
- read something while you're on breaks
- answer at least 1 reading exam in Cambridge

3. Writer
- as I said, you need to have a consistent pattern which you can apply whatever question it maybe, be it discussion essay or an argument essay. this will assist you to write faster.

4. Speaking
- the is a list of possible question category. read it and be familiar with it. there are questions about family, education, technology and a lot more. sometimes the easiest questions happen to be the most difficult so prepare for it. examples of which are tell me something about your favorite building, or tell me something about an event you forget
- practice with family or friends is the best way

here's my email address airambernadette@gmail.com in case you need references
