I was supposed to take the IELTS and then the Virus, postponed the date. Now they say (IELTS)have completely shut down any testing in the US for the entire 2020.
I haven’t seen any guidance from the Canadian immigration about what steps need to be taken in a situation like this.
I got my ECE, WES Masters evaluated. IELTS is the last straw in applying for ExpressEntry.
Has anyone been in the same situation?

You have to wait for IELTS test centre to re-open. Unfortunately you cannot submit an Express Entry profile until you have taken IELTS and have the test results.

Yup and hope for favorable ITA scores once you get IELTS. Quite a few folks will age by a year during this wait and that will reduce their scores.

CIC will not wait, they have already held some draws targeting Canadian Experience Class. Students within Canada and CEC inland folks will keep it going for a while.

You can try for https://www.celpip.ca/take-celpip/find-a-test-date/ where i could still see dates available.

Harirajmohan,

I didn’t know there was a test like that, which would be accepted by the Canada immigration. I am in the Chicago area and will look up the tests, thanks a bunch.

Seems you are not knowing the full detail on your immigration path. Please read more. Check the forum daily/weekly. Check the provincial programs often. Already its not easy to get an ITA being outside Canada and if you least prepared then its tough to get needed score.

i just checked, it’s sold out till August. Will have to see if it’s available in September.
NY is available if you want it soon.

I shud have checked the forum constantly, I didn’t, I never knew about this test, I would have checked it. With the virus, no one knows what next. Unfortunately we have a horrible guy who is in charge of the Virus situation, things just keep getting worse and worse. Now Costco is limiting meat, before it was cleaning supplies, it going to be an domino effect without a clear picture of what is to come. I had a CAN PR before, I let it go unused, so I blame myself for it, now I am chasing it.....Humans..

well, many of us did the same mistake. when there was easier rules in 2006 and had money to apply to Canada but i did not. Then from 2009 i had to wait and hunt till 2015 to get into the game. Yes i agree - This kind of decisions make things go in different directions and are not easy anymore after some years.
Good luck. Keep looking and find ways soon for the entry.

Just as an FYI - the CELPIP test isn't new. It's been accepted for many years along with IELTS.

I was the opposite. I am glad I left the US for Canada when my company was applying for my Green Card (back in 2018) and my country of birth is also current (so no delays like China, india etc) but I am still glad I left the US. I find life here in Canada a lot better and far more to my taste than what I had in the US.
