Dear friends,
I have recently applied under NOC4121 (University professors) and I have 61 points without IELTS results. I just need 7 points from English (IELTS) and I appeared in IELTS last month without any prepration (because did not get much time for it) and scored as follows:
Reading=5
Listening=6
Writting=5.5
Speaking=6.5
Over all=6

This gives me 10 points in IELTS according to new rules but someone said me that under NOC4121 (University professors), you need to score excellent in IELTS, rather the score just to reach 67 points is not enough. Is it true proposition? Seniors, ps comment whether I should improve my IELTS score or not?

Another question: If need to reappear in IELTS, could you suggest which online site give training for interacting writting and speaking training? I found most of on-line training center does give you only the hints to write an essay, but they did not train by correcting your eassys or interactive speaking session. Please let me know if such training centers exist in internet?
Your feedback is highly appreciated.

It is no wonder that you got such low results without preparation.

Study hard for one month, but better for two. Take IELTS again and I can assure you that you will get much higher result, much higher.

Check my posts, a couple days ago I gave some tips on studying strategy.

Just prepare by watching and listening to more BBC shows or Uk related shows and read more magazines to improve yr comprehension ability or even newspapers! Other than that, buy some practise books by ILETS to prepare and practise practise practise!

I think, you should not re-appear for IELTS Exam. Your Score is not low, it's average. You are already getting more than 67 point, you are qualified.

You should send full documents as soon as possible...Reappearing IELTS will waste your time and delay your file....

Better, accept the result and go ahead.. Your case is strong....

Good Luck...

if you are able to achieve 67 points with this score in IELTS, you are good to go. no need to sit the exam second time.

I have never heard that an FSW needs to have IELTS results to match their NOC but if you were in Canada on a temporary work permit and were applying under Canadian Experience Class, you would need to have IELTS based on skill level. If that was the case, your IELTS is not quite good enough for your profession but not by much. One category improved by .5 would do it.

Dear Gaizin,

Don't sit the test without preparation.

I am so confident that if you spend all the time before the test day preparing for it you will get much higher score.
So high that it will astonish you.
Listening and Reading not so difficult. You just need skills. You can acquire them in a very short time.
Writing - you just need to know what they want from you, advanced vocabulary. Of course practice.
Speaking - probably you were too nervous and again they need advanced vocabulary.

So, don't cancel taking the test, just prepare.
And may God help you!

sorry sir but you are wasting your time now

as you reach 67 point by any means so no need to add more points

believe me 67 equals 99

it is a pass mark

It may not necessarily be a waste of time to give another attempt but you have to consider the following possibilities:

1. Are you at least 50% confident that you will score higher?
2. Will 2-4 points more have an impact on your application? If you have barely reached 67 and you want to be on the safer side, go ahead.
3. You also have to take into account that if you score lower this time, it will have a bad impact on your morale and application.
4. Take everything into account and make your own decision. It is you who has to live with it ultimately.

Dear Yunusee and saedmahraan,
Thank you for your time in sharing your experience here.
By the way, what is your NOC?
I also heard that there is no problem of english fluency if you cross 67 points.
Someone said to me that that they demand excellent english (IELTS score) for the applicants under NOC4121, so I was wondering whether it is true or not.
I also checked thoroughly through the information guide given by CIC but no information about this, therefore appreciate if you could ps kindly update your NOC number.

Thanks again.
