I received my biometrics instruction letter, but I still have not received an official AOR email. Is this fine? When should I expect the AOR mail and a request for medicals?

This can happen sometime so if you got BIL, you are certainly fine. AOR always goes to the sponsor while BIL/MR goes to the principal applicant.
