Keep visiting the IRCC web site and watch for annoucements in the parent/grandparent sponsorship section.
If you read the news and follow the past years, you would know that sponsorship of parents is extremely difficult in Canada, it is like a lottery that you have 1/1000 chance of being selected. Better prepare for plan B as it is not guranteed they will ever open parents sponsorship again and if they do it will be the most fierce competitions among over 100K people (and more each year) vying for 10K spots.
It is not 10k spots anymore and they are done away with lottery. It is now first cum first basis and total of 27k application was taken this year.
This year was an exception, and don't expect first cum first serve to last, it was only 7 mins till 27K is filled, there was a law suit against this process this year so next year it will be back as lottery most likely, and next year expect to have more sponsors vying for the spots as they have admitted huge number of express entry PRs over the last few years, almost everyone will want to sponsor parents
No guarantee it will be be a lotter or 27K applications in January. There may be a new party in power at the federal level by then.
And as noted, there is a Federal Election this year, that allotment can be changed at anytime. People should have a back up plan, like a Supervisa, versus putting all their eggs into one basket with the PGP
