I need my passport for a flight during my visa application

So I need to attend this wedding. I need to fly there. I obviously need my passport. For reasons beyond my control, i can only apply for my student visa 2 weeks prior to said trip. The processing time here is 5-6 weeks. Obviously I won't be getting it back in time form the visa office. Is there any other way I can go about this without delaying my application any further? (it was already delayed a month due to the school I applied to)

Yes! I got accepted, only their representative for the Engineering department is on sick leave, due to return (and send me my final acceptance letter) at the beginning of August. My flight leaves on the 18th of august.

Simply dont submit your passport and apply for you study permit online . If you got approved they will send you email asking you to submit the passport

Well that sucks... that he/she is on a leave. Concordia delayed my process by three weeks due to their oversight.

I was going to apply on paper, as it is hard to annex extra papers (such as the SOP and other supporting letters and affidavits on-line). I will simply have to ask the visa office if they can do without my passport until a decision is made. Usually not an option, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I guess this is my only chance, except for delaying it

Can't you just provide a photocopy of the pages of your passport? And any old passports with visas.

I called VFS today and they said paper means they NEED my passport from the start. My only option, if I don't want to delay, is to apply online.
But I have heard people have issues with adding extra files on-line.
Can someone walk me through adding the SOP and other supporting papers? this happens after you add the base files (IMM's) and after you've paid (as far as I know).
