I have done MBA finance;is it worth going for ACCA

Hello friends,

this is my first post. so i really expects lots of good friends helping me out.i am from Pakistan.I have recently done MBA financeI want to go to canada for further studies with intention to get work permit afterwards leading to PR.I have prepared all the document got a bank loan and did all the pre-requisities.i have applies for ACCA at LSBF,toronto campus. I want to ask is it worth doing ACCA after MBA finance.? can embassy raise questions on this?
secondly please tell me, would i be able to get post graduate work permit after completing ACCA. would i be allowed to do work alongwith ACCA?

Brother, if it is NOT recognized, then why is it affiliated with CGA?
PGWP timelength is shortened not because it's not recognized, but because ACCA is not a degree but a certification. How i know this? I confirmed with the CHC Abu Dhabi. There are limited job prospects after ACCA in Canada unless you switch to CIA, ICSA or CFA.

ACCA is affiliated with CGA showing that it IS infact recognized there. Clear the Law and Taxation papers of CGA and ur good to go.


Coming to the original question.
Frankly, people do it the other way round. First complete ACCA and then MBA. I don't know how it wud look to the VO since MBA is a superior qualification than ACCA and people dont really 'downgrade' instead they upgrade, know what i mean?

You will be allowed to work, permitting you hold a valid study permit. To speed up the process of getting a study permit, you can opt into the co-op internship programmes offered by LSBF, but it costs $2,500 each. That's around 200,000 Pakistani Rupees.

However, after the completion of ACCA, the job prospects are VERY limited unless you are good in your field, and the only fields which are required in Canada by an ACCA affiliate are financial analysts to Pension and Insurance Providers and/or Internal/External Auditors.
However, since you have an MBA degree, you could have a better chance of finding job. Though it would be difficult to convince the VO why you think ACCA is a good option AFTER MBA when people, infact, do it the other way round.

And the PGWP, haha, its tooo short. Not even the standard 8 months

It ok. You have go from upper to lower degree? Education is never ending field.

Holy prophet Muhammad (SAWW) said that, "you got education, you may go to china" means you have to strugle for education.

The degree in pakistan may cost just 5 lacks ( include all charges)

While, ACCA certificate in canada may cost 10 lacks (only fees) and other charges per year are CAD$8500, withouts tickets and medical charges.....

thanks a lot to all of u for ur valuable input...actually i wanted to move to canada for PR...but as i have no work experience here so the best way out everyone gave me was to go on study visa. thats very obvious that i am not going to show my residency intentions to embassy...

coming towards the issue of doing ACCA after MBA finance.(going from higher degree to lower one), actually mba finance alone doesnot stand anywhere in pakistan unless u have further specializations added to it.. so i thought of doing accountancy in addition to it. and IN short, my consultant offered me this acca course at lsbf so i had to think for it.

so u ppl really think it would be hard to convince VO regarding this issue of doing ACCA after MBA?

@wasishah.. Jokes apart, Please hadees ka mafhoom theek se bayaan karo, kun k jo yahan ap ne kaha hai, wo bilkul hi alag matlab hai.. Mujhe maloom hai k ap ko Urdu mein bilkul theek ati hogi, par English mein matlab totally different hai... I'm not criticizing this time, just telling, k Ahadees aur Quraani ayaat ka hawala word to word theek do, warna na do

As far as I know Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said if u have to to even China for educational purposes jus go for it ...... means get educated even u have to put tons of effort ........

wasishah jigzy is right. its a canada visa forum and people of different race and religions come here and read the posts. Be vigilant and accurate when quoting hadith or Quranic verse.

ACCA is not a specialisation ina ccounting since it carries different fields such as finance, audit, taxation and management accountancy all together. THAT'S why people do ACCA and then specialise in MBA.

I remember arguing with a person here, he had done CA, CIA and CFA. NOW that is a real good combination. CA in itself is commendable but he further specialised into Audit and Financial grounds. In my opinion it will be tough convincing the VO because ACCA is not a specialistion. MBA is a specialisation. How does one argue the point of 'downgrading' from a specialist degree to a general qualification? That's the question you have to answer.
Why don't you try CFA? It's hard as helllll but what isn't? It's related to the Financial Markets and since you have a MBA-Finance degree it will help you.

Bakwaas na kero. MBA kero phir ACCA k liyay apply kero. Agar tumhara visa lag gaya, tab ja k kisi ko kehna. Isko downgrading kehtay hain.
BA ker k 10th standard main admission lo. Dekhtay hain if the VO accepts ur visa clearance. But then again, won't be surprised since your mind works slower than a 10th grade student so its a 50-50

Then funny thing. Because i live quite close to the CHC myself here in Abu Dhabi.
And i confirmed it too. One of us is wrong then. And i'd rather try and find out i am wrong rather than staying home
