Hello.
Help needed please.

I have COPR. Landing date may 2018
Due to my profession I need to visit Canada in January 2018 but I won't want to officially land and move on this date as I will need to tie up jobs and property within UK.

Am I able to visit as a visitor with my ETA for the purpose of my trip (1week) and return to UK.
I then intend to "land" in April 2018 with my COPR and new Canadian address etc.

Has anyone had experience of this? As I can't see any other similar posts??

Thanks

Yes - that's fine. You can do that provided your ETA is valid when you visit.

Thankyou.
is this something you have done yourself?
Do you need to tell border staff that you will return for PR landing at later date (I'm assuming something comes up when they check your passport??

My ETA is valid for another 3 years.
Sorry if this doesn't make sense or sounds silly.
I just want to ensure I don't do anything wrong.
Thanks again.

Hi, I had a similar enquiry on the forum today. I have a 'visitor visa' (TRV) not an (eTA). My visa is valid until September 2018. I want to do the same thing which is go to Canada this October with my Visitor visa instead of COPR (which I will hopefully receive shortly).
I was told that my visitor visa will be canceled/void upon issue of COPR. maybe the eTA is a different case. I would appreciate a confirmation on the subject.
