You can represent yourself and that is no issue. Really, the guy did not follow the traffic light and should really take responsibility for his actions rather than contest it hoping the judge would show mercy.

We are all human and we make mistakes...he got injured in the process and it's always better to try to get a lesser charge depending on ur financial situation.

As a cyclist... Red light jumpers (mistake or not) should be put in prison for attempted murder.

However indeed, this shouldn't affect your pr application as long as you declare it and the charges clearly indicate it as a traffic violation and not criminal.

If cyclists had registration plates, it would deter them from thinking that they are exempted from following traffic lights.

So you're blaming a cyclist not being required to have played for when a driver of a car runs a red light?

His comment is unrelated to OP's case. It is true that we have way too many edgy and cocky cyclists in BC who don't want to stop at red lights because: <quote> I don't want to lose momentum </quote>.

However, I don't have any sympathy with people running red light and then cause an accident. If you have a medical condition, then don't drive. Also don't blame the weather or road condition either, this is Canada.

I'm coming from a cyclist who does obey lights. I'm saying if a cyclist has the right of way and a car jumps a light and hits them, they should be done for attempted murder.

However if a cyclist jumps a red they too should be charged as their actions can also cause death. Basically, obey red lights!!

Good one! Then I guess you have to remember that the top 'green' light means stop and the bottom green light means go! :P

But I'm curious, at what point does a traffic violation become a crime?

Committing a crime is breaking the law, right? Well, quite simply by speeding then you're breaking the law!

That's why I think it's a good idea for cars to have dash cams, and cyclist/motorcyclist to have go pros attached to their helmet.

We are having a yelling contest now? Your example of using seniors driving car is no relevant to OP's case, so stop trying to use straw man to divert the discussion.

I've been driving in Canada for more than 3 years so I know how slippery the roads are in winter, so I will give you a LPT(Life Pro Tip): Drive slowly.

Lets take this to inbox 8) and not bother people with our little CONVERSATION. because what im going to say after this will be completely off topic .

I didnt pass on red light! for sure I was on green light, however I was hurt and moved quickly to an ambulance. The police never asked me what happened. This blue guy only went to the hospital while I was suffering pain and left me the ticket, saying that a "misterious" eyewitness said that I was on red light! Even the other driver is healthy and I have a broken arm and unable to work, cause Iam a general labourer in a factory.

Anyone else think of the Blue Man Group when reading this?

Okay, back to being serious, I doubt the court will care about who was injured and who wasn't. It's not really a "oh, s/he's injured so therefore must not be at fault." But keep in mind, if you're already out of work..it might be cheaper to just pay the fine rather than hire a lawyer and go through the courts. You can certainly go and defend yourself, but it's very much going to be a case of "they said/they said."

Hi last week I had a car accident in Canada.I was charged by the police as fail to stop on red light. I crash car and another car, the other driver is unhurt and was ok no request paramedic attention. But in my case I have a broken wrist. However I was charged as guilty of the crash and Police gave a ticket (no payed yet) This fact could affect my Permanent Residence application? and what about If I decide do not pay the ticket and go to the court to fight for a rebate of the ticket amount? I am very worry about this fatc, please any idea?
Hey ..you got PR??
