Hey guys

I got issued my PR visa and COPR last week for my current passport (expiring in 12/2018), let's call it passport 1. I also applied for a new passport this week and will be issued on Tuesday, let's call it passport 2. Now I have my PR visa on passport 1, and only passport 2 will be my only valid passport, can I travel with both? I would like to specifically hear from people who experienced the same thing

Thanks a lot

Even I am wondering about this as well. My current passport will be expiring in July 2018 so I will be getting a new passport.

Could we get the PPR stamped on the old passport and simultaneously carry the new passport when landing? Or, should we need to inform IRCC about this?

Hi alxms10,

Was your Passport 1 validity less than 2 years when PPR was issued. Does IRCC have a minimum PP validity period at the time of filing the e-ApR or at the time of issuing of PPR?. If yes please do share me the link as I am facing a problem with respect to addition of my spouse.

Here is my case. Please let me know if you have any advise on what I can do.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My e-AoR has been on March 4 2017. I applied as single candidate. Going by the expectations I may get my PPR by first week of August. 2017. My Medicals will expire on 10 Jan 2018. I am getting married in second week of August which will be after my PPR. I want to add my spouse to my application before I land. Her Passport is valid till 24 November 2019( Two Years and 3 months from now.) Assuming I am able to load her documents to IRCC by September last week and IRCC takes three months to process her PPR, her PP validity will be less than 1 year 11 months when IRCC wants to issue PPR. Will IRCC reject my application due to validity less than 2 years at the time of issuing of PPR?. Someone told me that IRCC required 2 years of PP validity to process PR applications. Is this correct?. I do not want to renew her PP right now because it will take 2-3 months to get her new passport and then take 2 months to get her FBI-PCC which will delay her addition to my application by a great deal and IRCC will not give me so much time to provide her documents after I inform them. Please advise me as what should be done.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi pxyarala

The PPR letter I received had a passport validity requirement in it as follows:

Ensure that your passport is valid for at least 12 months from the date of this letter.
I got PPR on 05/06/2017 and my passport (i.e. passport 1) expires in December 2018; hence less than 2 years but more than 12 months as required by CIC.

As for your marriage, once you get PPR and if you're married by then, let CIC (and/or your local VO know) and they will ask for your passport and your wife's passport, medical and PCC within 7 days typically. Please read every post in this thread below and it will help you a lot understand the process:
