Anyone knows, should I raise a webform ? cause my agent said to me that if we raise a web form then it will be hard to get the extension or we can get a refusal as I have already completed my studies…
Apply for PGWP and wait for approval but you cannot work. Study permit extension processing is not almost 6 months so no sense in delaying.

Hello Everyone,

I applied for an extension of my study permit before it expired, and I am currently on implied status while the application is being processed. I have completed my studies, and I have applied for a PGWP. ( till this day my application for study permit extension is still being processed, i applied on April)

Based on the information available, I understand that I may be allowed to work full-time in Canada once I submit my application for a PGWP, provided that I meet certain conditions, including applying for the PGWP before my study permit expired and being a full-time student who has completed their program of study.

Could you please confirm if my understanding is correct? Specifically, I would like to know if I can start working full-time in Canada while my PGWP application is being processed, given that I have applied for an extension of my study permit before it expired and am on implied status.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or clarification you can provide on this matter.

Thank you
Hey you got any update i a in same situation?

I want to know if anyone have the Idea about the new rule in may 28th, if it permits someone who was on study permit implied status to work after applying for PGWP due to early graduation and still expecting approval for the study permit extention

When you applied for PGWP was your study permit valid? If not you cannot work until PGWP is approved and has nothing to so with the new rule.

Thank you for your reply, I have applied for my study permit extension since August 12th, 2024 prior to its expiration on November 30th, 2024 and I graduated on April 29th, 2025 and obtained my Certificate of Graduation, I applied for PGWP on May 3rd. I have not heard anything since then, I had a job before graduating and I have to stop and waiting on either the study permit approval or the PGWP approval.

So if you get study permit extension approved within 90 days of course completion, then withdraw PGWP application and reapply. Then you can start working again.

Update!

I received my study permit extension application today after almost 13 months and it only spans till 31st October 2025 which is next month

The question is... can I start working now?

No. You cannot work until PGWP is approved. You would have to withdraw your PGWP and reapply but since you graduated more than 90 days ago then your study permit is no longer valid. Get a lawyer to confirm.

Thank you for your candid advice.
I didnt cancel the PGWP to re-apply, I only left the PGWP application.

While I was waiting, the response to the joint family application I made with my study permit extention since August 12th 2024 got refused on December 16. It was 2 study permit for my daughters and visitor visa for my wife. All are outside Canada

One major reason on the ODN is that the inviter which is me does not have a valid status.

I am still waiting for my PGWP application.

My question is that, Can I travel? cos I am now more frustrated as I can't work.
I actually have a visitor's Visa, what is the implication if I travel and my PGWP is not still approved and I try to come back in next two months

if TRV is valid then you can leave and return when PGWP is approved. Not sure why you applied for study permits and visitor visa when you extended your study permit. They will be eligible for study permits and SOWP if you have an eligible TEER 0 or 1 NOC or one of the few TEER 2 NOCs.

Yes, I made my mistake and we learn everytime, though this was in a hard way. I since lost the job I got in the eleigible category since I couldn't work anymore. My employer couldn't wait for me any longer and I got replaced.

Another question is, if I get my PGWP approved before the window of 30 days application for reconsideration closes, Can I apply for reconsideration for the Study permit and TRV for my family outside canada based on my updated status and could flip positive?

What reconsideration? Reconsideration is based on your expired study permits so IRCC will not reopen it. IRCC will not look at their applications until your PGWP is approved. Once you have PGWP and eligible job then reapply.
