I see your point, but just because it's recieved at the office doesn't mean they start processing it that day...that up to 3 months for the aor, can be the time it takes to get from delivery to processing. The aor actually means they are looking at the application, and beginning the process.
The processing time is ' case by case ' and from the CIC website overall on average is 12 months.
My understanding is once they have received your application in Sydney the clock starts to count.
They Signed for it...... It's in their possession and are responsible for it. Just hope they process it in a fair
and professional manner. We know they are backlogged from last summer. So if it takes 3 months to
receive AOR then on average 9 months left. Some will go fast and some go slow determined by the CIC agent,
their workload, and what they think about each application. Each case is unique and their process/workload
will decide the actions. It's obvious some PA's countries are faster than others for whatever reasons?
Hopefully the agents are not biased or under too much pressure!
Patience is a virtue.

My application was sent in since June 7th, 2018, my medical was sent in July, 2018.
My file was sent to Mexico on 24th October,2018 for further processing and when I check my ECAS I am seeing that it states that a receipt of acknowledgment was sent to me on 3rd January,2019 whereas i received another email and not an acknowledgment email and it says my processing was started on 20th November,2018.
Everything is mixed up.

Plzzz help.

And it has my husband home address as my home address.
Should I update my address????
I don't know what to do.
Hi, we have the same timeline, we applied on June 8th. Is your process federal or Quebec? We didn't receive the AOR2 email, only the update in Ecas on November 2nd

Here's an example of an applicant who applied, but for didn't begin process for almost 4 months after being recieved :

Hello All,

I am new here and I have no clue on how this thread works. I am Nigerian and I have lived in Canada for 14 years, I got my Canadian Citizen in 2015. I went home to marry my wife in June, 2018 and I applied to the Sydney office and my file was received on August 27, 2018. I did not receive any emails until December 11, they began processing my application on December 7. I was issued a file number and UCI on December 15. That is the last I have I have heard. What should I be expecting next and am I in the right thread?

Thank you, I hope to hear from someone soon.

Tosaj.
They have factored in the time it takes to get AOR into the average processing time of 12 months. When they actually being processing it has no bearing on the 12 month average. It is from the time it is received in Sydney, not the processing date.

Thank you for clarifying! Is it true that the 12 month process time also starts again after winning an appeal? Even if the application was in the bgc stage when refused. It will still take 12 months to complete?
I am not familiar with the processing time in appeal cases. I would think that they would start where they left off, but it may be that they treat it as a new case. Someone who knows more about this process could tell you more. The 12-month average is for normal cases. Whenever there are complications, the timelines seem to go out the window.
