Hello. My name is Kristy. I have just returned from Jamaica where I married my Jamaican husband, Andrew, in Sept. 2012. He plans on moving to Canada. I am very new to the whole immigration process and am looking for any help or information I can obtain in order to facilitate this process. Obviously I would like to have my husband here as soon as possible. I have been online trying to find answers, but I am not too sure which category we fall under or where I should start. Any way we can have him come over and wait in Canada for permanent residency? If there is any information you can provide to me, it would be really appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your time.
Sincerely, Kristy

The short answer to your question is that he can come to Canada and wait for PR if he is approved for a tourist visa. Unfortunately it can be quite difficult for spouses to be approved for TRVs since CIC knows they probably aren't really tourists and have plans to stay in Canada long term.

For more information, please read through the links I've provided above.
