Does my wife need her birth certificate to get into Canada we were just married about two weeks ago and returning to Canada as husband and wife she is a US citizen.

She needs her passport. She'll need the birth certificate for the PR application, so she might as well bring it now.

I would also suggest that she have a return ticket (refundable) with her when she enters Canada, because until you sponsor her for PR (and she is approved), she cannot legally live with you in Canada. She can, however, `visit' you while the application is being processed as long as she maintains her visitor status.

Having the return ticket will help convince CBSA that she is NOT moving to Canada.

and if she is driving, not flying, she will want to bring some "proof of ties" to the US. Usually the only "ties" cbsa cares about is proof of housing and employment. anything related to your pr app will be helpful as well if they ask about it, whether it's the paperwork you are working on or proof of fees paid.
