How to track the status if applied through VAC?

After applying for a student permit yesterday through a VAC center in Mumbai, i was handed over a receipt with tracking number and was told to check the status.
I also received an email from VAC tht application is being processed and was given a link to follow with the tracking no.I went ahead to check through the link provided and it shows 'no details found for the matching inputs'. Does it take sometime to update on their link?
What status does it show,passport status or application status?
Kindly summarise what are the expected steps after applying.

Go to VFS India website here http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/india/track.html

There you need to enter your Tracking code and Date Of Birth .

Sometimes it can take time for it to be updated, so please wait.
