Hi there. How to prove previous work experience? Must I provide a reference letter from my previous employer? I feel a little worried about this because when I left my previous job it was not very pleasant with my previous employer, so I am not quite sure if I will get him to issue a reference letter for me, even though it is only a fact. Does anybody has some advice and insights? Thank you very much!

If you are scoring points from that experience then you will have to get a letter from your employer but if not then you can leave it but CIC might question you that what you did in that period of time if you were not working like studying, unemployed etc.

@liherb - Mine is also a similar case.

Most of the time it is not possible to get the reference letter from previous employer.

In my caes I provided declaration on a blank sheet that I hereby certify that during the tenure of working with xyz company i was performing following duties. The same is provided for my last 03 employers.

and for current employer I provided them the original reference letter from my boss along with visiting card(I am working with current employer since last 04 yrs).

This is my personal opinion. Others kindly share.

Regards,

boys if you have work experience fall in the lats 10 years then you must get the experience letter from your employer and make sure its Legit, because it will be verified from the CHC.

I am confused related to work experience...

Which experience does CHC verify as in calling the boss etc... the one through which we are claiming NOC code and that falls under FSW category ?? Kindly reply

Yes they verify the experience which you have showed to be eligible for permanent residence. They call your employer and confirm the details which you have given them just to confirm that you have given a true information.

Thank u Saki... this means if I have recently changed job and I am filing affidavit for my current job and responsibility they wont be calling my current employer... cuz i dont want problems here...

I have all the relevant letter according to NOC from my previous employer and a business card as well.. they can verify all tht...

Hi everyone, thank you for kindly replying. I am still concerned. What if my previous employer is mean and refuse to provide me a reference? Does it mean I am stucked here? I am an editor, can I prove my experience by showing the magazines that has my name on it from the year I claim to be there until I left? Can anybody give me any suggestion? Thanks very much.

You will need a reference letter from you previous employer showing magzines wont do any help. They will definetly check with your employer especially if your are claiming points from this work experience. Try to discuss this with your employer and make sure he gives a good reference or atleast confirms your job duties.

Is it required to have the reference letter from my previous employer to be verified by a public notary? Can anybody show me the credible sources indicating the formalities that is required to prove one's previous work experience in a foreing country? Thanks.

Yes, the credible source is CIC. Read your visa office-specific instructions.
