I made a mistake, well, several. I am a Canadian citizen, living in the US and submitted a Citizenship application for my US born daughter. Mistakes:

(1) included her passport with application
(2) included my passport with application (should have only sent birth certificate)
(3) included my birth certificate with application (only because it's now much harder to replace passport)
(4) sent to Sydney, Nova Scotia instead of Los Angeles
(5) expected similar processing times as passport applications

Now, I need to go to Canada with my family at the end of the month, and our passports, are, well, in Canada too.

Has anyone had any luck getting in contact with CPC in Sydney? I have called and written a letter asking them to return the application. I don't care about losing the fees, paying extra fees for shipping, I just want our passports back.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

I had a problem with my daughters citizenship application - I forgot to write her name on the back of the pictures, so I contacted the Detroit Consulate by phone and actually spoke with a person who was very helpful. They pulled my file and sent the documents back to me (about a week later). I know that there is a difference in Visa Offices but you could try calling Sydney and see if someone can help you.

Otherwise you may need to get expedited passports for everyone. Sorry I cant be of more help.

How did this turn out?

I sent my kids things in, and got their Certificates in 2 weeks - I did however ask for expediting.

Heather -I didn't put my kids name on the back of theres. Detriot returned it for that?

I sent mine to NS as well - I was told by the Chicago office to do that (I had originally planned to send it to Chicago)
