How to arrange return of passport. Sending from UK to RO Embassy.

Hey guys, we got passport request today.

We called DHL in the UK and they have pre-paid waybill..but only for UK.

They told us we need to contact DHL in Romania to have it picked up.


SO how do we coordinate things with the embassy? Has anyone else done this??

FYI for people in the same situation


If you live/work in a different country from the VO doing your application (and not in Canada), then options for pre-paid shipping back to you is very limited.

DHL in UK could only provide waybill for return if the VO was in UK. DHL in Romania says they can do waybill, but someone has to pay for the service in Romania (no online payments accepted), and when the embassy is ready for pickup, they will contact us, then we contact DHL, seems like a giant mess and confusing.

There is another option, to use CVAC passport transmission service. You send your passport to CVAC, who sends it to the embassy. Embassy returns it to CVAC, then they mail it to you. EXCEPT IN COUNTRY ONLY. So you have to have it sent to a relative, then have your relative send it to you since your are out of country.


OR of course, you can return to Romania and do it all in country and that resolves all the headache.

Hey there! Could you please share your experience and how you sent the passport to the consulate?
I am in the same situation - living in the USA and DHL can not issue waybill for pick up...
Will the consulate notify me by email when the passport is ready for pick up?
