Hi, everyone,
I live in Canada now, as a temporary Foreign Worker. I hold a valid work permit issued by CIC, which is not an open work permit, and the employer is fixed. I hope to replace it with a new WP, for the two reasons,1 there is no salary, 2 the employer ordered me to work like a full-time worker.
I have 2 questions below,
1 May I apply a new work permit if I find a paid job, before the previous work permit expires? Will CIC agree with me if the previous work permit is valid?
2 I need the old employer' signature or not.
Pls help.

Thanks.

Sure - you can apply for a new work permit any time you want to. To qualify to apply, you will need a job offer and an approved LMO from your new employer.

Hi,scylla,
How to apply new work permit online on the website of CIC, when I get a job offer?
Are the documents the same as work permit extension as a temporary Foreign Worker? I list the webpage at the end.
Please tell me the correct direction if the following webpage is wrong.
Thank you very much.

cic.gc.ca english information applications extend-worker
Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada as a Worker
If you are in Canada and need to extend your Work Permit and renew your Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), you may submit a separate application for the new TRV to the Case Processing Pilot Office in Ottawa (CPP-O) only after the extension of your Work Permit has been approved.

Re: May I apply a new work permit, before the previous work permit expires

Hi, there,

I called CIC at 888 242 2100, but nobody answered.

I wanted to ask how to change the employer, then plan to look for a new employer. Is there a friend with this experience?

Thanks a lot.
