I want to apply as a skilled worker under category "2173 Software Engineers and Designers" or 2283. Can anybody tell me that how much time will it take to complete the whole process? Because I heard that it will take at least an year. I am applying from Pakistan.

Thanks for reply App942. So it means only management occupations are required under Skilled worker program. Then why this code "2173 & 2283" are given in the website??

Aap942, NOC 2173 is listed under "2 Natural and Applied Sciences and Related Occupations" so I guess I am applicable for this position. Right?

As part of an Action Plan for Faster Immigration, Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism Canada Minister Jason Kenney announced new instructions for the processing of all Federal Skilled Worker applications received since February 27, 2008.

Under the Immigration Minister's new instructions, the list of qualifying skilled occupations has been narrowed down to 38 specific high-demand occupations. These 38 Skilled-Worker qualifying occupations are listed below:

Financial Managers (NOC Job 0111)
Responsibilities: plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operation of financial and accounting departments. They are employed in financial and accounting departments in companies throughout the private sector and in government.



Computer and Information Systems Managers (NOC Job 0213)
Computer and information systems managers plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities of organizations that analyze, design, develop, implement, operate and administer computer and telecommunications software, networks and information systems. They are employed throughout the public and private sectors.

Managers in Health Care (NOC Job 0311)Managers in Health Care plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the delivery of health care services, such as diagnosis and treatment, nursing and therapy. They are employed in hospitals, medical clinics, nursing homes and other health care establishments.


Restaurant and Food Service Managers (NOC Job 0631)
