Hello Everyone,

After your PR is approved how much time are you given to move to Canada. We will be moving from the US, crossing through Buffalo.

Thanks for the help.

You have until your passport or medical expires..which ever comes first.

Actually this time restriction is just for landing. Landing requires that you submit your passport, COPR etc to the IO usually at the border (but one can land from inside Canada as well), fill some paperwork, answer some questions, give a Canadian address for sending the PR card, then declaring your personal items that you plan to bring with you. If the office is not busy, then it takes about 15 minutes to land.

You can land, return to the US and take your time with the moving ...as long as you don't take so much time as to risk your residency requirement (730 days of every 5 years, I think).

If you are crossing in Buffalo and plan to import a car, let me know (and be sure to list it on your personal goods importation form when you land!). That is quite a tangled process and I'd be glad to share my experience.
