if the application is considered incomplete, the sponsor would not receive an acknowledgement of receipt (AOR). instead, 1 of 2 things would have happened:
1) the sponsor would have received an email about a missing document, and instructions about how to submit it
2) the entire application would have been mailed back to the sponsor
If the application was mailed back, it is difficult to determine HOW LONG it would take to receive it since it depends on where it's being mailed to.
If the sponsor received an AOR, then it's assumed the application is considered complete. This does not mean the applicant will not receive additional requests down the road (it is quite common for some offices to request the applicant send updated forms that were already submitted).
To see how long AOR is taking right now, go to the thread specific to the month you sent in your application and check to see who's received it yet. More than likely it's taking 3+ weeks to receive AOR (possibly longer).
