I am an International Student from Benin Republic living in Boston-MA-United States I applied for permanent residence under the family class (common-law) and my timeline according to the Canadian Immigration website is:

1) We received your application for permanent residence on January 10, 2013.

2) We started processing your application on November 6, 2013.

3) Medical results have been received.

4) A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

Does anyone know how long does it take for then to contact me, would they ask me to send them my Passport for the Visa? or would they send me something mail?

Hello, I know it's been a year but I hope you see this. May I ask how long did it take for you to receive contact from the office after you found out a decision has been made as shown online?

it depends on the visa office. generally, if the applicant does not require a visa, then the DM suggests the approval paper has been sent in the mail. if the person requires a visa, then instructions for submitting the passport (if not already done) will be sent, or it means the passport and approval paper were sent to the applicant. again, how "long" it takes depends on where it was mailed from, where it is being mailed to and how it was mailed.
