I don't mean this to be a stupid thread, but...

When a visitor is not given a visitor record, you get 6 months to stay, right?
So, for example if you are stamped at entry "Jan 1 2014,"
can you stay in Canada until "including" the day of July 1 2014?
Or do you have to leave on or before June 31?

Just trying to be precise, thanks ::)

To be precise midnight on the 31st of June.

Thanks!!

By the way is there info on what happens when you fail to exit by the date due to flight delay / cancellation? (assuming the flight was scheduled on June 31st)
Even if you left a day later or so on the next available flight, would you have trouble in the future upon reentry or would you be ok by explaining with proof of the flight problem (I think that's how they do in the US)?
I can't find a thread on this topic...

It states clearly in the CIC website that you will have to leave in the next 90 days after your status expires.

On rentry it can give you trouble and if the officer is in a bad mood then you'll have to explain your case to more immigration officers. CIC keeps track of ALL flights, so there would be the evidence, regardless that is a spot in your file as you are supposed to plan ahead and 6 months is already generous to push it further. This is a proof that you are not acting in "good faith" and that is something Canadian Officers are really special about (raising the possibility rentry can be denied).
