Im an international student from Hong Kong, I apply restoration online 2 days ago as i was aiming to get to school in sept.

Does restoration usually take longer then normal student application?

Can the processing time on CIC website apply to restoration application? (which is 33 days for not)

I have read some of the post here saying it takes 4 MONTHS to process restoration application, is that true?
does that mean I have to stay within Canada for 4 months doing nothing?
Wouldnt it be faster if I go back to Hong Kong and apply for a new study permit? Coz according to cic, it only takes 7 weeks for now.

Im kinda panicking here thinking I should have applied it beforehand

-I am in the same situation as you r...and I am also from HK.. :-[
I applied my restoration on Aug8th 9pm.. and hope to get it by Sept..
My school adviser told me some cases took 7 months to restore the visa..(in the worst case)
but I also seen some people can restore in with in 33 days...so I guess every case is different..
-yes! you r not allow to go to school until they approved your application
good luck

Hi,

I think we are in the same boat and got the same consideration.
Yes, from what I learnt those days, the restoration time would take from 3 to 7 months, with the on going strike, it could be even longer.
I did not hand in my application of restoration yet since my letter of acceptance is not ready up to this point.
I have also been told to apply for new study permit outside Canada, you need to wait for 180 days prior hand in your applicaiton. which would be another 6 months. I don know if that is true or not. And I think we should all stay here and enjor our own mistake.

Hi isabell.L and eiknarf,

I am also in the same situation as both of you. I have a time line very close to eiknarf. I applied to restore my study permit on August 9th. I have not heard anything back yet. How about you? I would appreciate to share this with me.
