Hi,

I'm new to the forum and have an abundance of questions. My fiance and I are extremely overwhelmed with his PR application - we completely underestimated the level of paperwork.

To give a backstory, his work visa is coming up for expiry as of Feb 2020. We are submitting our Spousal Sponsorship PR Application in November. Our understanding is that the OWP application will take about 4-5 months for approval.

We just want to know if any of you guys have had similar experience of applying way too close to current work permit. How long did your OWP take to process? Does it actually take the stated 4-5 months' time?

Thank you!!

Yes - you should expect it will take 4 months. The fact he's currently on a work permit doesn't influence that processing times.

I have a similar ques,
I am on a closed work permit in Alberta which is uptill Jan 2021
Have applied for PNP (result awaited)
1. Can i apply for Open Work Permit once i get my PNP nomination
2. Again, what will be the processing time
3. Will it effect my PR application.

Thanks
