How long does it take to get CELPIP and IELTS results respectively?

Yes, open the big one you had in the mail with your address on it. The smaller one only
has CELPIP logo on it, don't open that one.

13 business days after the exam. you can check your IELTS result on iltts.ca.
A written copy is provided within 2 weeks of that.

So for what I've read, IELTS is more expensive, it's a longer test and it takes longer to get the results.
If you're in Canada CELPIP is the way to go then. 8)

Thats right. It is expensive but i dont think so it is any longer test.
I did not want to take the CELPIP as i did not know the test pattern etc. The safe choice was to give a test that you have given before and not to take any risks at the last moment of your application process.

I did my celpip test in under 1 1/2 hrs. All four parts. For IELTS they say that you have to be available for a whole day,
as sometimes you have to wait hours before you can do your speaking part.
celpip you just leave whenever you're done. No other tests, nothing. One sitting at one computer.

Well thanks for the info. I will try celpip if i need it in the future. (hopefully not as i am filing for my PR in a few days )

i got my CELPIP test result online yesterday so when i receive the hard copy do i have to send it sealed copy to cic ? i havent seen or heard any thing like this. can someone clarify.

Something is misleading here.
As on or after April 2014, Paragon will send you two original score reports in single envelope. You open it up and send any 1 of those two original scores to CIC along with your CEC PR application.
No need to send in sealed envelope. You keep 1 original score report with you for your future reference.
