How does Health Care work for New Immigrants

Hi Everyone,
I've just received my PPR on Dec. 6th and have given our passports for PR Visa and COPR to High Commission. We are planning to move to Canada in March. My wife and 5 month old daughter going to be moving. I wanted to find out about Health Care for PR immigrants. Do we get it on Arrival or is there some time we have to stay before we can get it? How does it work?
Also in India toddlers have to take vaccinations and in their first year, will these vaccinations be covered?
Please advise.

Alberta you'll be covered instantly upon arrival.
Ontario you will all need to wait for 3 months before being covered.

Immunizations for children are all covered unless you are in the 3-month waiting period for Ontario.

Yes, in BC, you wait 2-3 months before you get health care, basically 2 full months and a balance of the 3rd so for example if you arrive right now, they say the rest of december plus january and february but if you were to arrive early january, it would be january, february and march.

You also pay monthly premiums for health care in BC.

Agreed with Leon, waiting period rules for BC MSP are a little different from OHIP in Ontario or other provinces with a health insurance waiting period such as RAMQ in QC and New Brunswick Medicare coverage.

A 3-months waiting period will also be applicable to dependent children of the primary insureds. In such case, you can apply for a private insurance policy for New Immigrants to Canada until your provincial insurance plan kicks in.
