My partner and I mailed our inland application for permanent residency (spousal sponsorship -common law) July 22nd, using Canada xpress post. We forgot to add tracking, and are now wondering how to find out if they've received it.

We tried to link the application online (trying every option but the application number one as we don't have that), but even though we inputted the right information very carefully it wasn't letting us go through.

I'm really worried it's gotten lost in the mail somehow!

The only way to know immediately is to have tracking on your application package.

It will take several months for IRCC to open and acknowledge they've received it.

Thank you! Would this mean we can't link our application online until they do?

You cannot link your application until they have opened it, checked it for completeness, and added it to the system. People from March are still waiting for this.

Thank you so much. I feel so stupid about tracking now, and I'm really worried it'll get lost in the mail and I won't know for months to send again

And you applied in January? Then yes, your application is received and you may not have received AOR. That happens sometimes.

I actually put tracking in mine when submitting for my wife and it was sent in March 2020... already confirmed that it was received based on the tracking number from Canada Post and it was actually sent to Australia. However, we are yet to receive any email from them. So i guess we just have to play the waiting game. Cos we can't even request GCMS note until we have an application number. I really do hope we start seeing some traction before the year runs out
