I might have to contact my MP soon regarding our file. Just wondering how did you contact yours, by phone, e-mail, mail or in person? What's the best way to get their quick attention?

Hi there, I simply called my MP's office and spoke to his assistant. she has been helping me since May. Thank fully as we have needed it. Good luck.

You can also get there email addresses online if you want to email them. :)

I was considering call my MP to.
do you think i should?
our file was transfered in april to mexico city.
and we still havent received an AOR, emails or ecase updates, and i emailed them almost 2 weeks ago and they havent responded.

do you think i should contact my MP if we dont hear anything soon?
or is it too early to worry about it?

Hello,

I think it depends on where you are from; if you are from a relatively smaller city/town the MP's assistant will respond to your emails and calls. But if you are from a large city, then you might have to play a long waiting game as well.

There is no harm in calling to see when their office is open and visiting them (if you are able to do that). I live in a mid size town and my MP's asst emailed me back in 1 week and responded to my 2nd email with update from my file in 9 days.

I hope this helps.

yeah im from a small city. so i think they would respond. also my family has dealt with the MP before and he has been helpful in the past.
I think im gunna wait another week or so. and than give it a try if i still dont hear anything.

thanks :)

Thank you all for the replies.
Do you think my MP can still inquiry if we don't know where our file is since Buffalo closure, could be Ottawa, LA or any offices in the States?

I called my MP and spoke with his assisstant, she told my UCI & File# and get back to me the next morning.

I emailed my MP, stated my basic info and that I was a constituent in his riding - they asked for my address to confirm that. He has an assistant who deals with immigration issues...and she was super helpful. They cannot get information about how long it might take for your visa to get issued - if it is within the prescribed time. But they can inquire as to whether certain documents have been received. They also do not like to contact the VO numerous times. However, when an MP or his office contacts the VO, the VO must respond to the MP within 5 working days - it states so in their OP. You just have to be careful how you phrase your question to the MP and not make the MP feel he has to step over any boundaries when asking the VO on your behalf. It's not uncommon to NOT get an AOR or to have information updated on e-cas. But maybe just gt MP to ask if your file has been received, your medicals, security checks, or whatever you're looking for. =)

I e-mailed. A paper trail is important to me, plus I'm hearing impaired :P I only e-mailed for the visitor's extension because it was taking forever and a day. But they know I'm applying for my husband to be a PR so they are ready if needed haha. My actual MP isn't exactly the brightest lightbulb, but his assistant is very sweet :)
