how can I know they received my package

Hi,

The complete request for permanent residency and request for sponsor was put in the mail from SOuth-Africa 14 days ago. How can I verify that it was received in Mississagua ? I went on the status site and enterred my receipt number but that did not work. Is there another way to find out if they have received the documents ?

hi,
were you given any tracking number by your postal service? it's the only way to check the delivery of your package. otherwise you need to wait approx. 3 -4 weeks for the decision to be made by Mississauga to know for sure that they received it safely.

When they receive your application, they just put it in a pile and it waits until the applications received before yours are processed. When they get to your application (it's taking 3-4 weeks these days), then they enter the information from it into the system and only then will you see it on ECAS (that's the status site).
Until then, you can only be sure that it reached them if you got a tracking number for it when sending.
