Hello everyone,
I sincerely need your help to assist me move on to the next phase of my life

I am single mother of 5. I lost my husband 6 years ago and I have been struggling to take care of my kids in mist of all the church and school bumping around me. Being a christian here does not help matters for me and my kids, so I wanted a good life for them in a country without prosecution and I was think of going to Canada to request for refugee. But my problem is how do I get to Canada.

Can anyone help me on how to get to Canada and file for refugee?

Your narrative doesn't convince me personally of your eligibility to be considered for refugee status. However the following information may be of interest. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/refugees/index.asp

Thanks Zadoz, but what with my narrative and/or situation isn't convincing?

He means your story doesn't sound nearly strong enough to qualify as a refugee. To qualify as a refugee, you have to prove that you have personally been targeted in your home country and provide strong evidence that your family's life is in danger. If you don't have this kind of evidence then it's unlikely you will be accepted as a refugee.

To apply as a refugee, you must either obtain a tourist visa to Canada, come to Canada, and claim refugee status here. Or, if you want to claim refugee status from outside of Canada, you must first be recognized as a refugee by UNHCR or a similar qualifying organization. More information is provided in the link zardoz gave you above.

Not sure what country you're from but assumed it's one that required visa to enter Canada. As many mentioned the only way to gain entry to Canada initially is to apply for and be granted a TRV (Temp Residence Visa, or basic visitor/tourist visa).

If you were to enter on a TRV, then technically once in Canada you could claim refugee status and your case would go through the process to determine if you qualify for this or not. You would need to specific reasons to convince CIC though, as Scyla mentioned.

Most likely the chance of you and your 5 kids all getting TRVs to Canada, is slim to none. If you only apply for a TRV for yourself, the chances are better since your kids would be a strong tie back to your home country. However if only you came and applied for refugee status, you would need to stay in Canada during the entire processing time so would not be able to visit your kids for at least 2 years or so.

hi, if you have much fear of terror and you have proof these things then you can got protection in Canada , but if you can not prove that then maybe you did not succeed. If you want then read on line requirements for refugee application in Canada . Best of luck . Naveed
