Dear Members/Experts,

I am in a very tricky situation. I had done the PR process from a consultant in Hyderabad. He said he submitted the application to Canadian consulate and gave me a courier service tracking number. The status of that tracking number says that the CIC has received package on Oct 08, 2014 and signed by D.Lewis. The details of credit card that I have shared belongs to the consultant (I had paid him the equivalent amount in INR since I do not own a credit card).

Is there a way to know if the CIC has really received my file (there's a chance that the consultant just gave me someone else's tracking number)? Also, the amount has still not been deducted from credit card (it's been almost 40 days now since my file reached CIC).

Any inputs/suggestions on whom I should contact?

Thanks in advance!

Your application has just reached CIC 1 month back, it may take further few months before your file is assessed for eligibility. So wait for Patience, tillyor file is opens , assessed you cant have your file number. I have heard that CIC is still working on July 2014 applications. And your submission date is Oct 2014, so wait with patience.

Its not the canadian consulate which receives your application. Its the CIO in NS which receives your documents

dmamey,
apart from your concern related to the consultant (if he cannot be trusted, why on earth did you hire him?) there's nothing wrong in your situation, so please don't worry much.

As mabmabs already pointed out, there's a backlog due to the huge amount of application. It takes CIO 3-4 months from the date of receite to open an application.

However, to restore your confidence you may write to CIO directly. Contacts can be found on their website. They usually reply in 45 days.
