Yes, in my experience the hotel always asks you for a credit card. Yes, it has to be in your name or in the name of someone traveling with you. You can't carry and use someone else's credit card.

That's a question directed toward the hotel, they can email you an auth form where you could present it at time of check-in and have no issues.
