Hiring LMO Exempt position (NOC 2171) Computer Systems Analyst

I am in the process of hiring a Computer Systems Analyst (NOC 2171) which is a NAFTA LMO exempt position from the United States to come to Alberta. I have been in contact with the CIC and have been advised that all that is required is for this individual to obtain a temporary work permit (1 - 3 years) is to show up at the border with the following documents:

• Job Offer
• Resume
• Requisite Qualifications (Degrees / Certifications)
• Job Description
• Valid US Passport
• References
• Police Background Check

And he would be granted a Temporary Work Permit at the port of entry.

MY question is does anyone have any experience with this process and is it as fluid and straight forward as the CIC say it is?

Did u have any information on how the candidate is exempt from LMO if the job is NOC 2171, some where on the website?

If the candidate is a US citizen or greencard holder, he can apply for WP at POE as CIC instructed. But always contact CBSA to confirm.

1. Greencard holders are not eligible for NAFTA only US and Mexican citizens.
