Hi everyone,

I applied for my study permit few months ago. They requested my medical and I passed last week. But my school ended up deferring me to May because of the delays with my application, and now I’m not sure what to do next.

Here’s what I’m seeing:

• On the IRCC Tracker:
  • Eligibility Completed.
  • Medical: Completed.
  • Biometrics: Completed.
  • Background Check: In progress.
• On the IRCC Portal:
  • Eligibility under review, and Biometrics show as In Progress.
  • Medical: Passed.

I’m confused about the difference between the tracker and portal updates. Does this mean that im getting a final decision or? Also, how can I let IRCC know about the deferment to May? or the school is in contact with IRCC?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Background check is still in progress. That needs to complete before there is a decision. At this point it's not certain if you are getting the visa or not. However you are through most of the steps in the process at least.

anyone knows where should i submit my new LOA since I deferred to may? or will IRCC contact me during current application?

Background check can take months depending on country of citizenship and countries you have lived in as IRCC must get immigration and security information from those countries. Send a webform with updated LOA. IRCC rarely contacts you unless ask for updated passport sometimes LOA.

So IRCC either will make decision or request updated LOA? will they refuse me because the fact I have been deferred?

No.

You raise webform now to attached the update LOA, then wait for final decision
