I am currently in Quebec, arrived in 2014 under the Live in Caregiver Program. For some reason I had to change employer around November. My passport expired first quarter of 2015 and my work permit was not processed immediately as well. A couple of months ago, my current employer took the services of a lawyer to process my visa, the first thing that was done as I was told was that my application was sent to Vegreville, however was "not accepted" (to what that means, is unclear to me on whether my application was received then rejected, or my paper was submitted to the wrong office/department..?)
Now, I was told the application will have to be submitted to the New York office. This was the information my current employer gave me and that was 6 weeks ago already. Up until now, I still do not know what is the status of my application.
As far as I can understand my lawyer is representing me & my employers for the application. Is it possible for me to personally do a follow up so I myself can be also be fully aware of my application status? Will there be any issues if I do so?
Any of you here knows how long does it usually take for an application for work permit to be processed (in New York) considering this is like a reapplication wherein I already have my CAQ and LMO?
Will it not affect any future plan of residency application since I was covered by LCP of 2014 and some changes have already been made in the program last quarter of 2014?
Any information, advice or similar experience shared will be greatly appreciated.
