Hello Everybody,

Can anybody answer my questions??

I have a friend who is permanent resident of canada and I am working in dubai for the last 2 years. we are planning to get married this november which is possible in pakistan or dubai.

After marriage I want to apply for canadian PR but thing is that my lady was on social assistance programme but now she has stopped taking assistance and is doing a part time job in canada with very less income.

My question is that can she sponsor me and if yes after her sponsor approval can I submit my Documents at Abu Dhabi embassy directly.

or when we will get married in dubai or pakistan at that time can we apply from abu dhabi or pakistan.

Does qualification matter in this case as I ve completed my high school only.

and one more thing I am having a personal loan from a bank in dubai, and every time I am paying my instalments in time Will it effect my application for PR ??

As long as your sponsor is not on social assistance anymore, it should be fine. There is no specific limit of income for spousal sponsorship but she must demonstrate to CIC that she will be able to support you and her once you come to Canada. If she is getting help from her family, get them to write a letter. Explain if you have savings, if she does, and how she plans to support you when you're in Canada. If you have skills that will help you find a job once in Canada, then explain that as well.

She can sponsor you, as long as you're married, and you can already have a look at the sponsorship forms, so you have an idea of what is required. As she is a PR of Canada, she MUST stay in Canada for the duration of the application. She can come and visit you during that time ( about 2 weeks every time) but must come back to Canada. If she stays outside of Canada she will be denied. As she was outside of Canada, she should also check if she fulfills the residency requirements for herself. If she does, then she can sponsor you as soon as you're married. If she doesn't, then you can get married, but she should stay at least 2 years in Canada so that she can fulfill the residency requirements and her PR is not in trouble when CIC examines the file.

You can not submit the documents to the embassy. You prepare your side of the application, then send it to her, and she adds her forms and sends the complete package to Mississauga. Then once Mississauga has examined the sponsorship part and approved her, they will send the application to a VIsa Office outside of Canada. You can choose between your country of residence (Dubai, hence the application will go to AbuDhabi), or country of nationality ( from your post, I would understand Pakistan?). You can indicate your preference in the application but CIC can decide otherwise... it's up to them.

For spouse sponsorship, there is no minimum education required, so it shouldn't matter. Same thing for the bank : it won't matter to CIC that you have debts, or not. It might matter to Dubai ( for certain countries, to obtain an exit visa, you must show that you have paid all debts before it's issued, not sure if it's the case for Dubai).

Read the first thread "spousal sponsorship" by Leon, at the top of the page. Only the first page is necessary - it will give you an idea of the process and the common questions.

Good luck,
Sweden
