Hello guys,

I need a guidance regarding application for a visitor visa for my mother-in-law and my nephew...?We would like to invite them to visit us....My mother in law never had a job, she is from India and we would like to invite her in Canada to help me with our baby but I do not know what documents to prepare for her as I mentioned before she never worked in her life...Please if anybody have experience with that just to help with little information what will be helpful to be done, so she can get a visa. Thank you in advance.

If your mother in law has never worked or traveled outside of the country, then you should request a visit of 2-3 weeks at most. You should say she is coming for a visit as a tourist. If you say she is coming to help with a baby - that may be taken as working illegally by CIC. Does she own property? If so, she should provide proof of this in the application. What about any bank accounts?

Thank you Scylla for your reply...I was thinking to put the invitation as follow: we are inviting our nephew to visit us, he is 8 years old and at the same time inviting my mother in law to accompany him as he will be travelling alone...

Sure - you can certainly do that. Again, go for a 2-3 week trip.

yes, 2-3 week will be...just I have no idea what documents we need to prepare for them from their side?

IMO, the invitation letter must say the reverse because inviting the nephew.... and stating that your mother-in-law is only accompanying your nephew does not make sense.

Also, as an 8-year old, your nephew does not have any strong ties per se. He must be probably in Grade 3, no previous travel, no finances, etc. I would, in fact, drop the idea of inviting the nephew

Yes, you can apply online for her/them from Canada.

You can go through the Document Checklist and Visa Office instructions for India (from the IRCC site). Do post any specific queries

So Bryana are you saying that because he is only 8 years old he cant get a visa just for visiting us? We just want them to come visit us...any advices are greatly appreciated

No, I didn't say he cannot get a visa. His chances of getting a visa are low. Also, it does not make sense if your invitation letter mentions you are inviting your nephew (and your mother-in-law is just accompanying him because he is 8 years old.... normally, it would be the other way around)
