It has happened before. Give the biometrics.

Guys, I submitted my PR application in January 2026 and completed my biometrics in September 2026. I’ve now received an unusual request: they are asking for all the phone numbers I used before coming to Canada, all my previous social media accounts, and copies of all the passports—both mine and my family’s—that we have held in the past. Are these standard requests? Has anyone else been asked for this?

Standard request, nope! But, they asked for the info and just provide it. If there's nothing genuinely wrong in your application, nothing for you to worry about at all.

Yes, this can be completely normal for an Express Entry PR application.

According to IRCC, most permanent residence applicants must provide biometrics for each new PR application, even if their previous biometrics are still showing as valid in their account.

The temporary exemption that allowed IRCC to reuse previously submitted biometrics for PR applications ended on June 14, 2023.

So, if your previous biometrics were collected for an earlier application, receiving a new BIL is generally expected.

I would recommend following the instructions in your new BIL and completing your biometrics before the deadline, which is normally 30 days.

However, if you already submitted biometrics specifically for this same PR application, it would be worth contacting IRCC through their web form to clarify the duplicate request.

You can verify this on IRCC's official Express Entry website.
