Dear all,

I am new to this forum, and this is my first message.

I graduated in discipline of "Geology" from a Pakistan based university in 2010. After that I could not get a job, and I chose to do LLB. Meanwhile, I appeared in two consecutive attempts of CSS, to the great dismay I could not do it. Now I want to apply for any "Environment" related Master's program in Canada.

My IELTS score is:

Listening: 5.5
Reading: 8.0
Writing: 6.0
Speaking: 7.0

Total: 6.5

Kindly confirm to me, is it possible for me to get a study visa based on the stated facts? Thanks.

Kind Regards,

Kind Regards,
First of all you need to secure admission in a Canadian University. Then, you can proceed towards you study permit from the Canadian Embassy. The visa officer will assess your application and decide whether to issue you a visa or not. The visa officers consider several factors in assessing the applications for study permit of Canada. First of all, get admission and then proceed further. Good luck !!

You can take an ielts exam again.. Listening 5.5 is a little bit low for your master degree.

I also got listening 5.5 for my certificate course, I had to appear the ielts exam again. Many school strongly recommend that no less 6 .
Master degree is a higher education level, so you should make sure no under 6...

If you're aiming for a Master's program, you should really try to get 6.5 or above in each IELTS category. 6.0 might be acceptable by CIC or it might not. 5.5 is certainly not acceptable.

Okay dude you first need to apply to any Canadian University which offers that program... If you meet the requirements and are accepted at the University, which means that you have received a Letter of Admission (LOA) you can then apply for a study permit in Canada via CIC.

Once you have been accepted and if you make sure to meet all CIC requirements you are most likely to get your visa but.

In your case beginning with your IELTS score you won't be admitted into any masters degree into any University in Canada.. Your results (5.5) are too low...

So if you want to come to Canada you should begin by retaking your IELTS AND then apply to any University.

At this moment of the year you might only be able to apply for January 2016 intake...

All this process since you apply to University after get your study permit issued by CIC will for sure take longer than 4-6 months... So check your dates and act accordingly

Dear friends,

Thanks to all of you, that you guided me.
Kindly confirm, is it possible to go through the process if I attach my previous (expired) IELTS result along with the latest one. In my previous attempt my result was as follows:

Listening: 6.0
Reading: 6.0
Writing: 6.0
Speaking: 7.0
Total: 6.5

Best Regards,

Not at all... Your results are valid for a 2 year period and they should be valid at least until the beginning of your studies...

An expired test results willing be as valid as having no results at all...

Your only choice right now is to retake the exam and aim for a higher grade...

Otherwise rejection is gonna be your only possible outcome

That is really good and best of luck!

you can also take other tests as TOEFL IBT or any other, just check your school requirements, but most fo them accept TOEFL IBT and you get your results in just a week.... Just an example, its up to you.

I think, I will have to do it to pass the CIC process, even if the name of my university is there in their list.

Dear,

I have checked the requirements of most of the universities with respect to GPA. they require at least 3.0 GPA. My GPA is 2.99 :-(

what should I do in this case? will they grant me a relaxation of 0.01 ?

I always fall from 99% :-(
