My university tuition fee is 13.5K per year and i am going as a transfer student
so will need less that 4 yrs to complete my undergrad,
and my parents are going to pay for my first year tuitions
and i have found a place to live off campus which is relatively cheaper compared to dorm and my parents are going to support all my living expenses
so my question is excluding that can i earn enough by doing 20hr a week job during studies and work long hour jobs during the vacations to at least earn 70 to 80 percent of my tuition fees ?
PLEASE help!!!!

It's not always possible to find a job - or sometimes is takes a while to find a job. So I don't think you should assume you will be able to cover 70% to 80% of your tuition. It may be possible or it may not.

The job availability depends on which province you are planning for. Even if you get a part time job. you can expect $10-$11/hr which gives $800 per month. and your monthly expenses will be close to $600-$700. Now you can figure out how much of money you can save. 75% of your tuition comes to $10000. Also, you have to consider that , University studies are more demanding so you have to concentrate on your studies which must be your priority rather than a part-time job. Thanx

Thanks a lot for your advise.
i will be living in Halifax .
And the thing is that my parent will cater for all my needs including living expenses and food for the first year,so the amount i will be earning wont be at all spent,So i was just curious that the amount i could earn, can come close to the value i predicted.

Getting a job is not easy. remember almost all International students are looking for those part time jobs. Also , also keep in mind sometimes students are underpaid.

My advice will be to plan everything well before taking the plunge.. :)

Well the minimum would be zero since there is always some chance you won't be able to secure a job.

thanks a lot ! :)
Guesss i wont be going to Canada anytime soon :(
so it seems earning money by part timers is kinda impossible and getting a job within a year is kinda far fetched too :(
btw what abt on campus jobs..
are they also this rare?

what is ur intention behind coming to canada ,"to study " or "to work and if time permits study"
if u are thinking abt later ,u cn come to canada ,flunk ur studies ,earn meager money doing part time year after year until u discover u have long abandoned ur university

I want to study thats my goal
and i am going to Saint Mary's University and it has Co-OP.
and the reason behind my thread is that can i atleast earn 50% of my tuition fees to help out my parents thats all.
i have no intention to go there and work but as u knw we international students have to pay a huge sum of money for our educations there,so i thought it wud be nice to help out my parents a bit .. :D
thanks

There is absolutely no guarantee that you will be able to earn at least 50% of your tuition. So you should definitely have a back-up plan in place in case you don't.

ru saying u want to save 16k in 3.5 years of ur student life? well i would say thats difficult......all u can earn that too if ur luck to find a job is ur monthly expenses thats it.....do not plan on paying ur tuition fees by working part time and doing it legally.......
