Hi everyone, I've been reading on here a bit, but have just registered to try to get some help from so many knowledgeable people please!?

To cut a long story short, I grew up between UK and Canada, born in UK, had Canadian PR and had it taken away for spending too much time out of Canada. Challenged it, failed. This was 5 years ago. Since then I've been in UK. I'm devastated and terribly home sick, but have just got on with things.

My question is what is currently the best way for me to apply to get back into the country? I am so confused reading about all the ways. I am now 43 so not eligible for all these great younger person programs, I have only one family member in Canada and that is an Aunt, she is in Newfoundland.

I would like to get into Newfoundland, but if it's easier I would start off in another province.

My only problem is my skills are not that great, I have a degree but do not work in that field (arts - surprise). I have other qualifications but have not worked in those fields either in the last 10 years. I am experienced in Admin, learning support, sales management, and some other basic things like that.

Can anyone suggest what my best route might be? Should I talk to a consultant? Are there any good ones?

Thanks anyone!
:(

Your aunt can only sponsor you if she has no spouse / common law partner, she has no children, both of her parents are no longer alive and she has no other family members in Canada.

Otherwise you need to familiarize yourself with the Canada's current immigration programs. You can find this information here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

There's really no short cut to researching these immigration programs to understand what it takes to qualify - other than hiring someone to represent you. If you go this route, I would go with a good immigration lawyer. Generally speaking, you need to have at least 1 year of recent work experience in a skilled occupation. However not everyone who qualifies is actually selected - many programs are points based and people with the most points are selected.

Thanks scylla, yes my Aunt would meet those criteria, I will look into this thank you.

Does anyone know what normal costs of immigration consultants are for advice and or services?
Thanks again.

Thanks Foodie69, I was looking more for just an immigration consultant, not a Lawyer, but thank you, that shows how much it costs! :o

I just need advice. Family class says it takes 32 months on the website, perhaps its faster to get a work permit and go from there, those are the type of questions I want to ask, I can do the forms myself.
Thanks guys
