First of all, a big thanks to anyone who replies. I am applying for Canadian study permit now in the US and facing a huge problem in providing proper financial proof. Part of my funding is from my BF, part from my personal savings. Both the amounts combined are 40,000, which is well above the whole year tuition fees(it is a one-year program) plus my living expenses in Toronto. But the problem is how can I provide evidence that the money from my BF will be available for my use and explain the source of this money. My parents may offer some assistance, but they are having some difficulties in running their small biz. I just donnot want to count on that.

I have consulted several immigration services, one of them advises that I can apply through GIS first and pay my tuition to get the receit. And then I deposit 10,000 Can dollars in a Can bank for living expenses. With the GIS document, the receit and the deposit, I may get a study permit smoothly. I am really not sure whether this gonna work out. I just donnot wanna lose this opportunity and reaaly worried that I may get rejected after a long wait. My US visa will expire on June 1, so I am terribly running out of time if I want to apply though Los Angeles.

Any kind reply will be hugely appreciated. Thanks again.

I also have a Canadian visitor visa, which expires on May 17. Can I enter Canada b4 the visa expires and apply in Canada?

I guess this must be a unique case. I'd better do it following the instructions displayed on the CIC website.

1. In general, GIS is a better way to show your financial capacity. However, financial proof is just a procedural requirement, not a deciding factor for SP approval.
