My partner did the whole process by herself from the UK back in 1997 and was granted PR...Back then all you got was the IMM 1000 form and that thing in your passport. She returned many times during that time to deal with her parents, first her dad and later he mother now both deceased. After that legal fighting over the home and eventual legal case which she won. We married in 2005 and she took my name...another hurdle we will need to fix. I am Cnadian and we now have finally made it back to Canada. My wife had no problems getting her health card, SIN Card and exchanged her UK drivers liciense for a full Ontario DL. We have never had any issues at the US or Canadian Borders but she would like to have a PR card. We contacted them and they emailed us the links to sort out the paperwork but we are having problems with the forms and the residency numbers. Can anyone help?
I know we can drive over the US border in the car but we would also like to hed south in the air and be able to return.
Thanks for listening

Go the CIC website and print of the forms and guide for a PR Card Application. All the documents required will be listed. The crucial thing is to make sure that she either has

1. 730 days of physical presence in Canada in the 5 years prior to the application date or if this is not possible

2. 730 days of accompanying (read living with) you where you have been a Canadian Citizen in the 5 years prior to the application date.

A combination of 1 and 2 to get the 730 days works too. Challenge is that your spouse has to list your absences from Canada..hopefully she has kept records.

Good Luck

Thanks for the quick reply
I was living in England with her during the times she was back to deal with her parents ( providing care) and I have dual citizenship so it didn't affect me. We have been married for 7.5 years and have been back and forth between England and Canada. She still remains a PR or has landed status but we now want to get her the card after we got the Ohip, Sin and Drivers done with no problems at all.

You just have to prove that either she spent 730 days in Canada in the past 5 years of 730 days living with you outside Canada in the past 5 years or a mix of both.
