My exclusion order expired in may 2014, my application is at VO for 14 months.processing time for my VO is 15 months. I have no news from them, since i subbmitted my application. My husband was approved as a sponsor in august 2013. Since then, nothing. I emailed them and they replied that my application is in queue, pending the asessment of a visa officer. My question is. Do they start counting the processing time from the time the exclusion order expired???? or from the time i submitted it?

at this point, and until you are passed the posted processing time for your visa office, your only option really is to order a set of your GMCS notes to see if there's any mention of the exlusion order and if processing has started. there's a chance they waited until may to pick up the file, and your clock started then. it's really difficult to say for sure because every visa office and officer are different, every application is unique, and no one really knows for sure how situations like this are handled.

Once you are past your posted processing time, then you can ask the sponsor's member of parliament (MP) to inquire on your behalf. If you have a sympathetic MP, they *may* be willing to send an update request now, since your situation is unique. Unfortunately, generally, CIC does not respond to update requests from applicants or sponsors.

they will contact you soon. We had an exclusion order as well. More than likely, your file is waiting for a VO for processing. We didn't need to do anything. Sometimes, they will ask for form 'Authorization to return to Canada' (ARC) but I don't think this is necessary in your case.

good luck !
