Hi,

My wife just received the passport with the visa today, but she used a scissor to cut through the entire package.

Right now 2 of the Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR) documents are disconnected like the sample below.

What should we do? Would that cause any issues for the first time come to Canada?'
Thanks!

You should contact the visa office right away. It may be invalid and have to be reissued. The visa office will be able to tell you for sure.

You will also keep the documents as you may need it after landing as well to prove that you are a PR. They should be kept safe and undamaged for this purpose too.

definetly contact your visa office. This could very well cause problems especially at the point of entry into Canada.

Have a look at some of these threads:

https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/my-copr-papers-got-torn-but-still-intact.183006/
https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/i-ripped-up-the-copr.528412/
https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/copr-torn-accidentally-need-help-urgent-please.410324/

It would appear that CBSA can print a new one at the port of entry for you. But probably best to contact your visa office anyway so that you have a paper trail.

Though others have reported that the visa office will replace the forms for a fee.

Which visa office issued the CoPR? You'll have to e-mail them directly. The webform will go to an office in Canada and they might not be able to help you if your file was transferred out.

HongKong VO, but the visa on the passport is issued from Beijing, China(Canada Visa Application Centre)!

Take a look here!! You should be fine, just draft a cover letter mentioning the circumstances. However call the service centre to follow up on the right way to do this.

I mean first Call CIC Call Centre. Discuss the issue. They will be able to guide you in the right path. Finally, the link clearly mentions how you can apply for a damaged immigration document for $30.

If the COPR is still acceptable as per the call center agent you dont have to do anything. If he advises you the reapply for a COPR the link will guide you. Of course there is time associated in the process (not sure how much). Again the call centre should be your(or sponsors) first point of contact.

what do you mean by that? should I take any action to apply that or what?

ok. CIC said we should ask where issued the visa for confirmation. They don't have a guide to tell us what really to do from CIC, except contact VO or visa center and also not guaranteed would ok if on the border with the damaged COPR.

update~

We contacted the VFS(http://vfsglobal.ca/Canada/) and they are ok to re-issue the COPR, but just need to send them everything again + the broken COPRs and almost double of the SERVICE fees that different from the first time. This process is like move your Visa to a new passport, but I don't think they will move the Visa in this case and they may just re-print the COPR only, so they charge like that much. Solved!
