Health exam costs

Hi all you have been so helpful in the past, i do have another question. DH came to Ottawa to have his medical and it popped up a few things that he is havi g taken care of in the States, however the DR is trying to get us to pay her additional fees for phone calls(which she told DH woul be 4to5 dollars apiece-nope its forty five! And also she told him to se an edocronologist which his primary physician in the USA has done for him now the Dr up here wants an addiotional $10 for refering him after she got th i fo out of him as to who the DR in the USA is!) Is there any recourse to getting to back off on her money gauging? I am not happy as we are tryin to suppkrt two houses while we are trying to sell out our american house. Please let me know if this is a reportable issue as I am sure she is doing it to all the Americans she is doing exams for....

Could some of it be a misunderstanding? "four to five" sounds very similar to "forty five"

Not sure about the rest of it, when I did my medical I went on the cic website to find out where to go to do the medical, there was only one in the area but they were very professional and it was just a one-time fee to do it, no follow ups or additional stuff.

This has money grab written all over it. For one thing I do not think your Canadian doctor can be compensated for a referal to a doctor who is in the USA especially since the Canadian doctor did not know who the USA specialist was in the first place.

yes, i second the question... are you sure you are going to an authorized panel physician per the cic website? ONLY panel physicians can do the immigration exam, and there is no need for them to refer you to another doctor, except maybe to complete the bloodwork and xray. i would highly recommend finding another panel doctor to get the exam done at.

Yes this is a.panel.physician, there was some issies foumd during his exam.that has required him.to.find out what the issue is, high sugar and an issue that showed up.on the xray. The reason I am concerned is because his is a panel.physician who is pulling this stuff. The two phone calls were one to discuss the result.of the xray amd the second was her wanting my DH to seek treatment here in CA despite his living inthe USA. The offica cale him today demanding to know.his dr's name and wanting the additional money for the supposed referral..

I would contact the CIC call center at 1-888-242-2100 (number found on the panel physician list on the CIC website) to see if you can get in touch with anyone who can either help you or give you contact information for someone who can. There seems to be something strange about this whole situation and the CIC may want to do an investigation if the physician is indeed stepping outside their boundaries.

Since my DH is following up with US doctors and she has demended all results sent to.him my concern is we will.be at her mercy if she decides to pull.funny stuff, is the panel.physician involved.in final.outcome of a medical case that might need further investigation/explanation?

and i would tell that doctor you have reported his actions to cic. i bet that will stop him from trying to scam you because he doesn't want to lose out on this money he's getting from immigration applicants. if she tries to withhold the results, that will only cause major issue for her. again, she must be reported to cic!

if there was an issue on the xray, it may be necessary to do a follow up. i would get in touch with the member taffy7. her husband had a problem with his exam, and she would let you know if what's going on is appropriate or not.

Don't worry about retaliation. The Panel Physician simply performs the medical; they don't review it for CIC or have any say in the final decision. A CIC doctor reviews it and decides if any further tests are needed. As said above, she cannot refuse to upload the medical without getting in trouble with CIC.

The only funny stuff she could possibly pull is charging you for more services and tests that are not needed for the e-medical.

My wife had a slightly similar problem...Told after her medical it would not be submitted as one of her test results was too high and would not pass CIC. So out of their "wanting to help make it right" They sent her on her merry way with a portable test device that they promptly charged extra for. My wife told me all about it and I found out on here they were gauging for money. Spoke to my wife about it to tell them that they will be required to submit the e-medical no matter what they think. They did send it. Now here is the kicker they gave her all her medical results she sent them to me and guess what.. the original readings that were high also had marked along the side "calibration error" Was just a MONEY GRAB

If the e-medical is complete INSIST your doctor sends it in as is. Refusal can be dealt with by reporting her to CIC

I have spoken to CIC and they hav given me.instruction to write to the health board about what is going on, we are trying ro get everything else ready to go as i am tired of waiting on whether his results wil be rjected a he is now working with his dr in usa to find out what the issue on the xray showed up. Hoping we can get ecerything moving and get our house in usa sold.so we can reunite as a family!
