Hi everyone,

I’m wondering whether I may have already failed to meet my PR residency requirement, and I would appreciate your guidance.

I became a permanent resident on March 1, 2021, and my PR card will expire on April 1, 2026. During this period, I have spent time both inside and outside of Canada. Based on my calculation, from March 1, 2021 to March 1, 2026, I will have accumulated 728 days in Canada, which is 2 days short of the 730-day requirement.

Does this mean I will not meet the residency obligation if I apply to renew my PR card in March? Or should I wait until after March 3, when I reach 730 days, before submitting my application?

Thank you very much.

Apply once you meet RO. Always best to give an extra few weeks and not apply on the day you reach it.
