It is better to contact the Cuban consulate about this.

You can find some information here, but I would try to double check if I were you:

Wooooo still unreal and sureal and shocking but so happy :)

My application was received at cic in mississauga on May 12, 2016 and I still have not been approved as a sponsor. I'm super frustrated. I called cic and all they said to me was that if I haven't heard by September 19 to call back. I personally know 2 others that applied after me and there files are now in havana. I have no idea what the delay is. Any ideas as to why a denial would be given to someone? I live in Canada and I'm sponsoring my husband who lives in cuba.

1. You should be very well familiarized with this guide: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp
2. Then you need to contact your MP;the current time for the assessment of sponsor: 55 days.

My wife said it takes just one day. She got a right away. Immigration in Cuba gives it to you right away with no problems at all.

For the interview we have been asked to bring, among other documents:
"Sponsor`s entries and exits records – please note that this document could be requested at immigration offices in Cuba."

Does anyone know how long does it take to obtain these papers?

Hello All,

Is there anyone who has been married in Cuba and sponsoring their spouse to Canada, who did NOT go to the Cuban Consulate in Canada and pay $176 per each document (birth certificate, Divorce or Single Status) and was still able to proceed with wedding in Cuba without documents from Cuban Consulate? This would be only providing translated and notarized documents from Canada (without the cuban consulate stamp).

Thanks all!

Hi there!! I am new to this forum.. Looking to marry my Cuban spouse in the fall/winter this year. I have a question about the medical exam.

How long is the wait time to get a date for the examination?
Should this be done before we submit the application?
And can it be done before we are married (along with police checks..)?

Thank you guys!!! and congrats to everyone who got interview/visa :D

The Police check can not be older than 3 months when it is submitted and is only valid for 1 yr. The wait time for applications is 15 months however I see some getting visas or interviews before that. I would wait for the medical as it is only good for 1 yr as well although some have been given extentions. The medical appt is usually quick to get and if in Havana the Police check is taking 14 days otherwise if outside the city it could take up to 6-8 wks.

Ok, thank you for the info! My spouse is in the province of Ciego Del Avila. I will see if he can find out the processing times for the police check.

Also, does anyone have experience with the Cuban consulate in Toronto? We are planning to marry by the end of the year and I understand my documents must be translated and stamped. Does anyone know how long it takes to get stamped?

You can take the documents to the Cuban consulate yourself and have them stamp them and wait. Saves you a $40 fee.
